The book several institutions would rather had not been written
Tried, burned at nineteen, and exonerated twenty-five years later by the same machinery that burned her. Historical fiction — three volumes and a complete-trilogy omnibus.
Myst · Megha · Myth
Every institution that has owned the gate to the knowledge has a reason
to wish these books had not been written.
The operation the trilogy traces is as old as time, it documents fifty centuries of records.
Tiamat, Inanna and Marduk to touch on where the most recent split went: the young god slays the
old mother of the waters, splits her, and builds the world from the halves — and the crown
dates its legitimacy from the killing. Time-jump to (almost) present, and Jehanne, burned for
her vision on pretence of putting men's clothes on. It works by not being named. Naming it is
the undoing, and the records have to continue being set straight to account for delta of
deviation and fog of smoke-and-mirrors.
Underneath it is an argument the reader will recognise: Greek and Roman hegemony is a
colonial frame, and it erased the corridor's own knowledge. Every conqueror since has walked
through a world already made and called it founding. This book argues that the imprint they
left is what brought the civilisations down.
And it was never a war on women. It is a war on people who have it directly. Jehanne held a
direct vision — and never surrendered. In the wilder steppes that never cower, Tomyris had
Cyrus' head gulp the blood he was insatiable for, when he had come to marry the Queen, holding
her offspring a hostage. Put a crown on the sieve and hand it the treasury of the world.
Alexandria - Catherine and Hypatia. And a woman nineteen years into a research-funding body in
the Sydney CBD, whose job is checking that the record is clean.
And Alexander the Great returns — as the man who has spent twenty years assembling the
register of every woman who ever stood against a predator.
Christian, Muslim, Buddhist: the book does not spare whoever was holding the ledger.
Challenges are welcome — the author puts her own tradition in the reckoning alongside
everyone else's.

The mind is a sieve, the boy says — pour the ocean through it and come
back and find it dry; whatever it is given, it has already stopped counting. Now put a crown on the
sieve and hand it the treasury of the world. That was Cyrus. Lydia down, Ionia down, Babylon
swallowed in a night without a battle — and the same restlessness back on a horse the next
season, riding at a grass country with nothing in it he could spend. Because the appetite was never
for anything, keeper. That is the machine's founding secret, first edition, every edition: it
cannot arrive. It can only continue. MYST · MEGHA · MYTH

Trilogy Companion Album — with art of the legendary painter-mystic Nicholas Roerich
One hundred and twenty-six paintings by Nicholas Roerich — one of the most profound visionaries, teachers and peace bringers of the last century — reproduced in full colour, a painting on almost every one of 144 pages, each given its title, year and medium. Painted between 1895 and 1931 in tempera, oil, pastel and gouache: Himalayan ranges seen at altitude, Orthodox hermits, Tibetan guardians, Russian saints and the Mother of the World. Arranged in three movements — the Ascent, the Descent and No Tension — and including Madonna Laboris, Signs of Christ and the St Joan of Arc triptych. He gave his name to the Roerich Pact, the first international treaty to protect cultural treasure in wartime, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

THE SPINE — classical Rāja Yoga and the Yoga Sūtras in plain language. It is carried in rich eloquent visuals of rivers, fences, gardens, animals and weeds. Nothing in it is hard going or dry meta-science — and it is often more humorous than a book on the Sūtras is expected to be.
ZENVOYAGE — eight full-colour illustrated books for readers eight to fifteen and over, more than two thousand pages making one voyage: the major archetypes and the patterns of behaviour laid down early, so a young reader goes on into later life carrying a compass.
About the author
Matri was born in Palekh, the old Russian village of icon-painters, and raised in Kyrgyzstan
from the age of two, on the old Central Asian corridor, and studied the history of civilisations
with Central Asia as her field. India received her at twenty‑five — the country that had been lying
just over those mountains the whole time. Her grandmother's own collection, some three thousand
Russian volumes, travelled with her, and she now writes near the sea, in the Northern Rivers.
She teaches Rāja Yoga internationally.
